Sanguine Saturday

~ Sanguine as is both cheery and bloody; you’ll see why!
I woke up feeling all cheery – I was gonna visit a children’s home later in the afternoon. Planned a visit to the home, playing some yoga-based games, just to induced some laughter and fun. And then an hour of yummy snacks. C’est super!

And how did it go?

Hmm the home is located inside a Chinese cemetery area (yikes! Yes I did freak a little when I found out the location. Going to places like this usually zap a hell lot of energy outta me – I dunno why)

I’d lost my way if it wasn’t The Boyfriend who took a random turn at a junction.

The home was peaceful and quiet, and very clean. The youngest there is 6, oldest 14, and a total of 21 kids. You can see how excited they are for the event. Cheeky grins and innocent laughter. It was a good one hour of bonding with them.

I noticed these children have a very strict timetable. TV like twice a week? (ok when I was a kid I wasn’t even allowed to watch TV – unbelievable, right? But I survived..) They make their own beds, wash their own clothes, homework and revision time. And they are happy..They were very thankful for every little thing that you do for them.

Look at us! How we all take things for granted sometimes! Sigh..

I hope to visit them again soon.. I reckon they need these contributions the most:
- Stationaries
- Book shelves
- Dry food : rice, biscuits, milo
- Daily use: toilet paper

I then went downtown for some food, I was starving.
It was about 4.30pm, and I wanted a bowl of laksa – sold out. Then I thought a bowl of hokkien mee would do – also sold out. Ahhh the last option was char koey teow. We wanted to order 2, but was rudely told that only one left. *raised eyebrow – why the rudeness?* Okay then, 1 without chillies pls.

And I waited for what seemed like ages and finally the young boy came with my char koay teow.. soaked in chilies oil! Didn’t I say without chilies pls?

The poor kid went back to his dad, and got yelled (sorry, chilies give me flare ups on my skin) and he harshly said “ No more lah!” and went on banging his utensils. What in the world?

You’re earning a living and actually think it is ok to be harsh to customers? Whoaaa has the world suddenly changed? Not that I see anyone begging him to fry the damned koay teow! Huff!

Next destination was the Popular Bookstore’s book fair. The Boyfriend was keen on browsing the CDs, and true enough, he happily popped 3 sets of CDs into the cart. And then while I was browsing, he went off scouting at the Chinese section. Hmm I can’t read Chinese so whatever Chinese books that I bought will be his “job” to translate them haha. He found a NiuErr (the Taiwanese skin expert) skincare book!

Don’t I just love him… The Boyfriend I mean :P
Of course some Chinese cuisine cookbooks.. aiyaaaaaa that means I have to cook for him-lah! But they also include some herbal soups and teas for beauty; which I really like! :)

I bought a few chick lits from the 50% section. Less guilty but the titles are those that I’ve been eyeing for some time.

There was a booth selling stampers and paper cutters – super nice! But very damaging to the purse.. and I of course stayed away in case I give in and bag home a few sets! They each costs about $40 mind you… and I don’t have time to make fancy cards everyday, so…. I bidded them goodbye.

December mags.. I needed my mags fix, so next was MPH.

Boo! Only Cleo Dec ! Where are the rest! So disappointing… I guess that means I have to get them at the news stand. So much for accumulating MRC points.. no wonder I’ve been getting 5% rebate instead of the usual 10%. Shame on you MPH!

Off I went to Watsons.. and in less than 30minutes, I came out with a tube of Simple Deep Cleansing Mask, a box of Lipo Tea and a Winnie the Pooh fleece blanket… hehehe So much for not wanting to buy anything.

I know I know… I have too much masks already. But I didn’t know Simple has one and I simply had to try it. It was also on 15% off… I couldn’t resist it, ya know?

And finally time to head home to snap some pictures!
