Life of a Foxy Siren

Back Entry: 20th July 2009
- On holidays, back in hometown

This is not the first time I gloat about not working on a Monday. Today is another one.. – I’m officially on one week holiday. No waking up early. No dragging my ass of the warm comfy bed. No rushing to get dressed. No cursing the stupid car in front for taking ages to turn out into the main road, sod off bad traffic! No work. No dumb asses. No hot humid weather that is almost skin scorching.

It’s all about … total freedom. I don’t have anything in plan. No where specific to go. I’m back to my slow mo, peaceful hometown. I wake up whenever I feel like it. I go to bed without the dreaded feeling that I haven’t enough personal time.

I’m back to spend time with my mom.
It’s true what people say. You don’t necessarily have to go somewhere to have quality time; or to de-stress. The best gift you can give to your loved ones is your presence. I still remember that phrase. And I’m a firm believer of it. The happy look on my mom’s face… how she sleeps peacefully when I’m back home… How she treasure every single moment when I’m around, even though I still have one whole week ahead.

It is time to live life, following our heart.

Breakfast was a simple cup of milo and coffee. Then we headed off to Jusco for shopping.
Discovered that my consistent yoga practice is paying off. I can fit into an “M” size pants again… yay!
Ended up buying a simple spaghetti top and a black 6-buttoned jacket. Mom found a grey bubble sleeved jacket that she fell in love with.

In Penang, Monday is a no plastic bag day. I thought it is a brilliant idea to help save the earth. Until I saw some people buying items like electrical appliances, a young girl buying about 6 huge ring files, and some old folks buying some kitchenware items. How do you expect old folks to remember bringing their own recycle bags? How about the young girl carrying huge stacks of files? Or pregnant ladies carrying all her purchases? There should be exceptions. Maybe big items in boxes, or when people buy in big quantities.

Then merde happened. I came across some plastic containers that I wanted to purchase.
There was a sign that said:

“RM1.10 / pc. Price range from RM1.10 – RM2.90

Assuming I didn’t disappoint my English teacher in school, I understand this as all the items priced from RM1.10 – RM2.90 is now being sold at RM1.10 because there is a “/each”. The two seemed innocent cashiers was trying to educate me that the sign actually means RM1.10 is the minimum price. Not content with the explanation, I asked to see the manager. There is a policy from Jusco that in the case there happened a pricing discrepancy; they will honour the lower price.

The cashier made 3 calls to seek for the so called manager. And I was made to wait for about 25 mins without any feedback of the situation. The 2 calls out of the 3 was because I asked them what happened to the manager. She told me the manager Pn Zuana was at the back and she is very busy.
I asked so she is not coming out to see into this situation? Or how long she wants me to wait? Cashier looked embarrassed, and the 3rd call I heard her speaking in Malay “dia duk tunggu ni” (she is still waiting).

I headed straight to the customer service counter and there was two reps attending to customers. A moment later a Malay man by the name Khairul (I think its Khairul / Khairil, supposedly a Customer Care Manager) entered the counter. He seated himself comfortably; I went up to him and told him I asked to see the manager in charge regarding a pricing difference. Then he started explaining that the staffs called him and he went over to the counter but I wasn’t there. And Pn Zuana is on leave – its her rest day; so the case was passed to him.

Bloody hell, didn’t the cashier just told me that she is busy at the back?!

It seemed that he has to call another manager to clarify on that matter, and it turns out that the sign actually meant that the RM1.10 is minimum price, and they are just following instructions from the HQ? I didn’t know that their English is this bad! So EMBARASSING!

- If they are meant to be sold according to individual price tags; why in the freaking world would you bother putting up a sign that says “RM1.10 / each”? Wasting paper and you’re campaigning on saving earth.
- Customer service is terrible. So is the too busy Pn Zuana on rest day or too busy working at the back? You don’t take pride about good customer service when your customer is made to wait for 25 minutes with no feedback.

Needless to say, this has definitely soured my experience shopping with Jusco Seberang Jaya. I would not want to shop there anymore. It may be a really small matter, after all the container costs just RM2.50. But where is the efficiency in serving customers? And if it happens to more expensive items?

Shame on you, Jusco Seberang Jaya.

On a happier note, dinner was a simple one. Some sushi, with yellow kiwi fruit (I didn’t know Kiwis come in yellow). And the treat is White Fungus soup… mmmm collagen! Think supple skin!

And then I’m sitting comfortably blogging about this half-not-so-pleasant day….

- Momma's cooking.
We had Luk Mei Soup, Watermelon Soup, Fried Spaghetti, Cheesecake, Pink Guavas, Fried Rice, Stuffed Prawns. All that over the weekend. Honestly I think Momma is a wonder-woman. Had no idea how she churned those up in several blinks.

- New Furnitures
We went browsing again. We really liked the second shop we browsed - the retro L-shaped couch looks cool and mod. But - OVERPRICED. A few more shops and tada~!
Came back with new ultra comfy beige coloured 1+2+3 seaters, a TV cabinet, and a dining set! :D Super fun arranging them all afternoon, with Darling BF's help (EBA Deposit!!)

I said goodbye to my long time Papa Bear though :(
Has been 2x years.. and it has became so dusty it could clog up my nostrils in a jiffy.

- Absolutely Fantastic Looking Skin
Giving credit again to momma. The night before she showed me a serum she recently bought, and she slathered a generous amount on my face hehehhe. A quick massage, then I was off to bed (before 12!)Slept like a baby for about 9 solid hours.

The next morning, momma knocked on my door, and she went.. "Whoa.. your skin looks so good! So moisturized" That statement made me so awake - "Huh? Really.. lemme see lemme see, this is so making my day!" Rushed to the mirror, true enough, my heart jumped in joy lol. Looked so plumped up and glowy. Awww and momma went off to pour me a small bottle of the serum for me to take home.... isn't she a gem? :)

Lazy lazy Sunday, don't feel like cooking up a storm.
Waiting patiently for my White Fungus with Rock Sugar thong sui.. mmmm I like it really soft and gel-like. Coz that's how my skin benefits from the collagen.

Simple and easy to make... not to mention super duper way cheaper than bird's nest.
Though I must say, it taste yummy if you add some bird's nest into it! :)

In the meantime, I'd better get to a quick yoga practice before finishing some tuna sandwich. Sundays like this.. especially after shopping the day before, is kinda slow and relaxing.. nice to calm the soul.

It was also a day I really work my calves and arms muscles. Spent 7 hours at the mall, and came back pretty happy (though I'm trying to ignore the guilt).

Watson's is having sales, not too sure if its storewide 15% off; I guess not since I barely have time to explore the whole store. Rimmel is on 15% disc.. and because I was there early in the morning, I get to test all the colours on shelves before deciding to walk away with 3 Mirror Shine Lip Glosses (Startlet, Love Struck,Try Me) and Renew & Lift Brightening Powder with Mineral.

Mandom Cleansing Express is also on sale, its marked down to $29.66 (from $34.90)
I have not finished my current Cleansing Express Sebum (green), nevertheless I love this product so this time I grabbed Cleansing Express Moist (pink).

Next off to The Faceshop. I spotted some new products (maybe not that new, I dunno; my last visit to The Faceshop was.. last year?)

Pure Water Facial Mist, in 3 variants:
- Jeju Flower
- Jeju Marine
- Jeju Orange

Its suppose to quench thirsty skin, revitalise and improve circulation. Retails at $18.90. I'll put in into my next shopping list. Are they any good?

I also want Home Aesthetic Smooth Seaweed Pack, because it tightens pores.
And then theres the new Shimmering BB Cream, but I couldn't find any reviews on it.
I suppose BB Creams from TFC isn't that popular compare to Skinfood or Etude. *shrugs*

The main reason I din wanna buy anything, apart from I'm not exactly filthy rich - was the annoying SA! Every item me and my friends touched - he needs to explain and yak and yak and yak. Despite telling him I just want to browse, he even poked at a face pack I was holding telling me the functions etc. Hello!! I can read...!!! *steam*

After that blardy irritating experience, seeing "up to 50% disc" from Etude was a complete change of mood. Skincare is on 30%, cosmetics 20%, accessories 40%, and only the brow pack and lip gloss (or something I dun remember) is on 50%.

SLEEPING PACKS *huge grins* The ones retailing at $40.90 is now about $28.
*grab grab grab* Just barely 2 weekends ago I was drooling so itching to buy. Darling BF even offered to buy them for me. But thank goodness I didn't let him... :D

Magic Crystal Pack Peeling - I was undecided between this one and the one in a bottle. I do prefer the bottle (its pretty) but its more for dry skin.. and I din wanna end up like a greased roti canai pan. Its also cheaper ($46.90 - $32.85) so I'm happy.

Eye Lash Serum ($19.90 - $15.95)Never come across anything like this before.. so grabbed that too.

Oblique Shading Brush - its soft and I like the feel of it.

I guess there are a couple more things that I want, but I don't wanna sob when I see the CC Bill.. so enough for now.. or mebbe another peek in about 2 weeks?

Awww mannnn I'm feelin so good right now. While enjoying my absolutely healthy bfast smoothie, the postman came with a package for me!! :)

Beauty products! Oh, which girl don't twirl at that.
I've got one whole box full of facial masks (from Aus and Taiwan)(and yes, I'm almost broke)and I just know how I'm gonna spend my whole afternoon today - taking pics of course! Those beautiful packagings.... wondering if it'll break my heart ripping off those packagings. Hmmmm.. shall see tonite, eh?

I love shopping. I believe I was born to shop. I dream of shopping most of my waking hours. If something catches my eyes, the next thing ya know, I'll be Googling it and then drooling over it. Crave and crave and crave till I go home with it. Then GUILT seeps in... ouch!!!

I went to Borders today. My significant other did in on purpose! :P
So tempting me into it. I end up buying a few items:

- Cosmopolitan July 09 (UK Edition) -> my staple read hehe.
- Better Homes & Garden: Smoothies -> for the health freak in me.
- The Nearly Weds, by Jane Costello -> I love the cover, chick lit-ish.
- 10 Reasons Not To Fall in Love, by Linda Green -> the title was the culprit. I'm a sucker for lovey dovey reads.

See if I'm hardworking enuf to upload those pics.. Hehe may take a while though.
Planning to read tomorrow (yay! no work on a Monday!) if I don't end up doing imaginative house chores.
